What does “TSA approved” mean?
The term TSA approved applies only to locks and padlocks used to secure luggage. It ensures that TSA officers can open and re-lock your bag with a master key during inspection, without damaging your lock or luggage.
👉 There is no TSA certification for bike bags or bike cases themselves — only the locks can be TSA approved. To travel with peace of mind, simply use one or more TSA-approved locks on your bike bag or case.
I used the bag for a trip to Chihuahua Mexico on American Airlines. No problem with the size with the airline. Bike arrived in good shape and it was an easy store with rolling it up for when I return for the flight home.
I haven’t used my Buds bag for travel yet, but I was impressed with how light it is and compact in its travel case. I did a test pack and it was so easy to install the bike. Also has lots of extra space for all the tools and warm clothes I’m bringing when I travel to CX worlds in Italy.

Seems like a good travel bag, maybe a bit too long to take on a train in Italy after our upcoming flight. But my trial pack seems like a good bag for air travel. Plenty of room in the bag to easily fit the bike, wheels, and some other bike items for travel.

I've traveled with bike bags before, but the ROLLBAG Pro is on another level. Packing is intuitive, everything fells well thought out,and the padding is excellent. My bike arrives perfectly aligned after a long-haul flight, no scratches, no adjustments needed. I really recommend this brand
I ordered this for my XL fat bike with 5" wide tires. I was a little skeptical that it would fit, mainly due to the large tires, but this bag appealed to me because of it's lighter weight than the competition. They were a tight squeeze, but I did manage to get them in the bag with the bike. The reason for the 4 vs 5 star review is because the included fork and rear drivetrain protection will not work with this bike because of the wide hub spacing (150mm front, 197mm rear). I am not complaining since they came free with the bag, but it is worth mentioning as I am not as satisfied as I could be. Aside from that, I am confident that my bike will be protected on my flight to Alaska in February.
My wife and I have traveled with mountain bikes for decades using everything from cardboard boxes, to full hard cases. We eventually landed at bags from Evoc and Chain Reaction Cycles. These have served us well, but I’m always looking for shorter build/breakdown times as one trip requires 8 tear downs and rebuilds.
The Buds Pro bag accessories really help with fast and secure packing. Especially the padded handlebar bag and derailleur protection. Also, the fact that the fork and bottom bracket pads can be installed outside of the bag itself is a game changer.
I currently ride an XL sized Ibis Ripmo V2. And there is plenty of length in the bag for it to fit.
On other bags, I need to remove air from the fork and shock and compress the frame together with straps to shorten the overall length of the bike. The Buds bag doesn’t require any of this.
That said, the Pro bag is much wider and taller than their competitors. While the width might go unnoticed by a tape measure wielding airline representative, the height of the bag is bordering on “why?” Buds product designers could shave 5” off the total height of the bag to make it appear more compact, and XL mountain bikes would still easily fit.
I will also mention that the weight of the Buds bag comes in a pound under the Chain Reaction bag and 2 pounds under the Evoc bag. Pretty substantial if you’re worried about coming in under 50 pounds.
Haven't used it yet, but my Lauf Large gravel bike barely fits. I will update when I use it in September
I am very satisfied with the bag and all of the protective accessories. I look forward to traveling to the East Coast with my bike in a few weeks.
I shopped around for a bike bag and chose the Rollbag Pro. This thing is really nice. Well made and appears it will last for many years. It appears to have enough padding for airline protection. I will use it Feb 2025 for a trip out west. The other selling point was the weight. Its stated 16.5 lbs. So if your bike is around 30-32 lbs, you should be under the 50lb airline requirement. I still have yet to weigh it all. The individual padded protections to cover the bike are a really nice feature. I would have liked to see the bottom stay foam block extended along the bottom of the swing arm for even more protection and stability. The wheels roll nice for easy maneuverability. I have a 29" Large frame Santa Cruz Tallboy and everything fits just fine. I have no doubt an XL frame would fit. My wheels are 2.4 and have plenty of room in the wheel pockets. 2.6 size tires should be no problem. This bag with both tires off the bike during packing makes the overall size more compact and easier to move around. Be careful of the bags that allow for the rear wheel to stay on. The bag size may push past airline limits of 115" overall dimension.
The RollBag Pro provides excellent protection for my bike and is easy to maneuver around the airport. It was very practical for my trip!
